Dr. Melvin V. Wade, Sr., and the Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Los Angeles, will host its 2012 Annual February Revival and Family Day on Sunday, February 12, at 9:15 a.m.
Dr. Tellis J. Chapman will be the guest evangelist. The revival will continue Monday, February 13, and Tuesday, February 15, at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Chapman is the senior pastor of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. Born in Newton, MS; he is a graduate of Jackson State University and has received honorary doctorate degrees from Natchez College in Natchez, MS, and Dallas Baptist College in Dallas, TX.
“We invite the community to share in all of the worship services. Dr. Chapman is one of the more charismatic religious and community leaders in the Greater Metropolitan Detroit area.
“As a denominational leader, he serves in several capacities including a member of the National Baptist Convention USA, Incorporated – Board of Directors,” said Pastor Wade.
He added, “The historic Annual February Revival at Mount Moriah has been a source of spiritual restoration to countless numbers of individuals in the city of Los Angeles for nearly 50 years.
“Through the years, Dr. Clay Evans of Chicago, Illinois, the late Dr. E. V. Hill, Dr. M. C. Williams and Dr. E. K. Bailey of Dallas, Texas, have been some of the featured evangelists.”
He also noted that the revival comes at a time when families, individuals and the community are suffering and hurting spiritually, physically, economically, mentally and emotionally.
According to Dr. Wade, “The preaching of the Word of God will bring the hope, encouragement, guidance, renewal and inspiration needed for these difficult days.
“There is the need for spiritual uplift in the light of the challenging vicissitudes that confront God’s people. We must continue to affirm the fact that we can do ‘can’ living in what seems to be a ‘can’t’ situation.
“Philippians 4:12-14 says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
