President J. Benjamin Hardwick was joined by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass at the 133rd Annual Session Pastors and Ministers’ Wives Luncheon.  During the event, Life Members of the Western Baptist State Convention and recipients of the Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick Scholarship were recognized.

The following people were honored for 50 or more years of extraordinary service to the Western Baptist State Convention:  Lady Emeritus Mabel Griffin (102 years old), Deacon Lloyd Allen (101 years old), Sister Katie Webb, Dr. Willie Franklin, Sister Lorene Harris, Sister Barbara Williams, Sister Bobbie Pringle, Sister Thelma Price, Dr. Benecia Toms, Dr. Marvis L. Davis, and Dr. Tyrone L. Skinner.

Mayor Bass also presented Certificates of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles acknowledging receipt of the Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick Scholarship and congratulated each college bound recipient for their academic excellence.

The Dr. J. Benjamin Hardwick’s Scholarship Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Tyrone L. Sinner and Sister Yasmin Smith, thanked the mayor for showcasing the unique accomplishments of the outstanding students.
