Councilwoman Katrina Manning was recently named mayor pro tem of the city of Hawthorne. In this capacity, she will preside over meetings and serve when the elected mayor is unavailable.
Since being elected to Hawthorne City Council on November 8, 2022, Councilwoman Manning has made helping the homeless, public safety, economic development, and investing in our youth and seniors a priority.
In a 2022 Sentinel interview, Manning said, “I’m excited to be the Councilwoman. I’ve been volunteering and working in the community for more than 30 years and it makes me feel good to be able to bless other people.”
The longtime president of the Holly Park Homeowners Association, Manning works professionally as a community engagement manager for Blue Shield Promise Health Plan where she develops and executes strategic plans to involve individuals and families in realizing sustainable outcomes, goals, and relationships. In addition, she is a licensed realtor and assists many people in securing a family home.
Manning’s educational qualifications include earning both a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and Master’s degree in public administration at CSU-Dominguez Hills. She also received a certificate in public policy from the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute.
