The Los Angeles African American Women’s Political Policy Institute (LAAAWPPI) has opened the application process for its 2021 Leadership Development/Public Policy Instruction class. The Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute is the premiere leadership organization offering development to African American women. LAAAWPPI is a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to prepare women for leadership roles in the public policy, community, civic and political arena in both the public and private sectors. Over the past 17 years LAAAWPPI has graduated over 330 women who have gone on to win public office, be appointed to local and state boards and commissions, and be appointed to administrative positions in local, state, and federal legislative offices. The applications are online at laaawppi.net. Applications will be received until November 13, 2020 and then reviewed with personal interviews scheduled the beginning of December. After review by the LAAAWPPI Selection Committee, class participants will be announced and notified of selection. The 10-week course commences virtually on January 23, 2021.
The LAAAWPPI leadership classes have been highly successful and positively received by corporations, public policy professionals and political strategists in the City. The goal is to create a trained and talented pool of women prepared to assume leadership positions at all levels of civic engagement in the public and private sectors of the community. We have assembled a talented staff of instructors and speakers for the classes, each of whom have distinguished themselves in the corporate world, as well as in the public policy and governmental affairs arenas. If you have an interest in advancing your career and/or becoming more engaged in the civic and policy affairs of government, then LAAAWPPI is the forum to lay the foundation for success in the public policy arena.
LAAAWPPl’s goal is to provide individuals with the skills needed to pursue careers and opportunities specifically as corporate leaders, elected officials, campaign consultants, public affairs consultants, fund-raisers, activists/organizers, legislative staff members, and members of boards and commissions.
Each year LAAAWPPI enthusiastically looks forward to expanding our database of women with diverse backgrounds and talents who are ready to expand their roles as community leaders.
