Well known community figure Leon “Ted” Garr, passed away on Tuesday, December 5th at home with his family surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Garr was 103 years old.
Garr was a builder, banker, entrepreneur and philanthropist. On May 4, 2017, the intersection on Vermont and Gage Avenue was designated as “Leon Garr Square,” in honor of his career achievements as a businessman and unsung hero.
The viewing/wake will take place on Thursday, December 14, at Angelus Funeral Home located at 3875 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90008 from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, at First A.M.E Church located at 2270 S Harvard Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018
