Erroll Rudeen Dolphin died Thursday afternoon, April 25, from the effects of cancer.  He was 73 years old.  He was healthy and hardy until his passing.  He had five children – Karl Rudeen, Surrame, Quincy, Kelvin Terran, and Melissa Joi.

Erroll was an outstanding athlete.  As a Dorsey High School student (Class of 1968) and despite injury, he placed 3rd as a junior and senior in the Los Angeles City Pole Vaulting Championship.  As a freshman at San Jose State University (SJSU), he participated in the pole vault and 400m hurdles when SJSU won the NCAA Division 1 National Championship in 1969.  This resulted in Erroll and twin brother, Jerroll’s induction into the SJSU Hall of Fame in 2017.

Erroll interests were in real estate and business. He enjoyed teaching these skills to his nephew, Jamelle Dolphin.  Erroll enjoyed watching his Lakers.  He was loved and people enjoyed his company.  He will be missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 13, at 10 a.m., at Angelus Funeral Home, 3875 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles. The viewing will be held on Friday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home.
