Mega Snow Days, Sled Rides, Play Areas, Silk-screening and Teen Zone
Snow days return to the southland as L.A. County Parks & Recreation reprises its popular Parks After Dark Winter Wonderland festivities at 34 L.A. County parks over three weekends in December. L.A. County Parks & Rec Snow Patrol teams will bring 40 tons of snow to area parks, allowing families to ride sleds, make memories and take part in a host of holiday-themed activities, including a toy giveaway for park goers ages 0-17, while supplies last!
New this year are Mega Snow Days, which will double the family fun by bringing 80 tons of snow to selected parks! There will also be photo opportunities, snack stations, holiday treats, silk-screening, a teen zone and a craft village where children can decorate their own holiday stocking!
Snow Patrol teams, consisting of dedicated L.A. County Parks & Recreation employees, will arrive with tons of snow 4 to 6 hours prior to the event to begin set-up.
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation manages 183 parks and operates a network of 70,079 acres of parkland, 475 sports amenities such as futsal, basketball, tennis, lawn bowling and multipurpose fields, 42 swimming pools, 15 wildlife sanctuaries, 10 nature centers that serve as a refuge for over 200 animals, 14 lakes – 3 of which are boating and swimming lakes, 5 equestrians centers, more than 210 miles of multi-use trails, the largest municipal golf system in the nation, consisting of 20 golf courses, in addition to the world-class Arboreta and Botanic Gardens and performance venues – Descanso Gardens, Los Angeles County Arboretum, Virginia Robinson Gardens and South Coast Botanic Gardens and the Hollywood Bowl and Ford Theaters.
