Radio Personality, Teacher and Entrepreneur Kevin Nash

Radio personality and business owner, Kevin Nash is taking radio to new heights, strengthening the voices of everyone willing to speak up.

“I look at radio as a tool, I think that God has given me a gift of encouragement,” Nash says of his passion; inspiring and motivating others to achieve and grow, adding, “I use that medium to do all those things.”

Currently on air at KJLH nightly from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. with The Kevin Nash Show, his love for radio and people motivates him daily to grow beyond his own means to fulfill his purpose. In the most recent years, his expansion of radio has created a platform available to the masses and a safe space to create.

Having got his first job and as he says “big break” at age 12, Nash has been working over the air for 38 years. Donning himself as a voice of calm, Nash has consistently provided encouragement to listeners of his show, building relationships, giving back and healing his audience and students.

“I look forward to waking up on a daily basis to do it [radio] and not to do it for me,” he says.

For more than 10 years, Nash has been teaching engineering, production and more with the Accelerated Radio School of Broadcasting. Beginning at Fremont High School, Nash has brought his program to middle and high schools across Los Angeles to provide another outlet for students to expand on their own creativity. Building radio stations on school campuses, students have been able to conduct their own live radio shows, teaching them responsibility and giving a real-life experience.

Six years ago, Nash expanded the school and created Accelerated Radio Network, a space where individuals can create their own talk shows, podcasts and more. Equipped with two studios, video recording options, and professional radio equipment. Noticing a void and filling the space, Nash created the Network not only to give people a voice on air, but jobs for former students as operation managers, programmers, and producers.

“It’s been an amazing ride infecting people with radio disease,” Nash jokes. Hoping that one of his students will carry the torch and continue Accelerated Radio Network and School of Broadcasting beyond his years and reach. “This creative space is for you and you can do anything you want to do,” he tells students daily highlighting their power and impact.

Accelerated Radio Network shows are available in 120 countries, having the ability to stream via iHeartRadio, iTunes, Google Play and Spotify. With this in mind, all he requires from students is passion and dedication, with open arms Nash is readily available to share his purpose with others.

“We call this radio, but this is bigger than radio to me,” Nash states. As a leader of the community, he uses his experience and honesty to inspire and teach life principles to his students and listeners of his show. “I just have this sense of urgency to give out good helpful, healing information subtly.”

As a young child, Nash wanted to be a preacher but states God had different plans for his life. “While I’m thinking you [God] wanted me on a pulpit in a building, but you designed all of this including this medium and this is how you want me to use it,” he says of his calling to radio. Having been able to use his voice to move people, Nash has powered shows on some of LA’s most popular R&B, hip-hop, and gospel radio networks.

As an adult, well into his career and continuing to follow the path God has set for him, Accelerated Radio Network and School of Broadcasting is for the community. Teaching not only the business of radio, but marketing and how to create revenue from your own creative endeavors on air.

After years of hard work, the radio personality and community leader is still energized beyond his understanding. “I just want to maximize every moment while I’m here, to do everything I love to do,” he says. And for those who want an opportunity, Nash simply wants you to want it and enjoy the process. “Life is serious, but I don’t have to take it too serious,” he says.

Having his hands in radio at KJLH, Accelerated Radio Network and School of Broadcasting and getting back to a budding career in music, Nash is eager to continue walking in faith and light provided by God. Using himself as a tool and agent of change, Nash is well on his way to shaping voices beyond LA.

“The show don’t stop!”
