Black Santa & Mrs. C at WinterFest (Shelby Stephens/L.A. Sentinel)

Hundreds gathered for the 2023 WinterFest at Hollywood Park in Inglewood on Saturday, Dec. 2. The free annual holiday celebration included a farmers’ market, activations from future Hollywood Park retail tenants and other local businesses, food vendors, holiday reef decorating activities, live entertainment from the Inglewood High School Marching Band, photos with Black Santa, and Baron Davis’ Celebrity Basketball Game.

Hollywood Park collaborated with two-time NBA All-Star and entrepreneur Baron Davis’ Black Santa company, along with UWish, to bring a special holiday activation to the community. The Black Santa Company celebrates diversity in storytelling through engaging content and high-quality products. Founded by Davis, the company’s mission is to inspire the world by telling contemporary stories that reflect cultural change and an inclusive future for the next generation.

Families got into the holiday spirit with Black Santa, seasonal eats, Christmas shopping, and an interactive snow playcenter. The Century Plaza – made up of the promenade, the alley, and the court at Hollywood Park – was transformed into a perfect outdoor day of fun. After the farmer’s market concluded, the Inglewood High School Marching Band, sponsored by the Musicians at Play Foundation, performed around the plaza with Black Santa before the basketball game.

WinterFest is one of three holiday installments hosted by Davis. The remaining two events will be the Giving Has No Season Gala on Dec. 15 and a Black Santa Pop-Up Shop at the Slauson Supermall. A percentage of the proceeds will go to the company’s commitment to fostering youth development by inspiring positive change through social media content that integrates technology, sports, and animation.
