On Saturday, June 24, Primestor and Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson of District hosted a community block party event for residents and families to enjoy to celebrate the coming of Evermont.
Evermont is a “a community-oriented retail project on land left vacant for 30 years after the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest, is one of urban impact real estate company Primestor’s most meaningful projects.”
With this area being destroyed from civil unrest in the 1990s, Evermont is a project that aims to bring this community back to life. Partners such as the Coalition for Responsible Development and the Seed School LA also spearheaded this event to celebrate before Evermont will officially open.
On the block of South Vermont Avenue and West 85th Street, the block party brought together families to enjoy a range of activities. Attendees delighted in carnival games, food trucks from Savage Tacos, music, bounce houses, and entertainment.

Vendors such as the L.A. South Hope Foundation and Shop Local L.A. County were in attendance as well to inform the community of the work they do, as well as resources for local businesses, and development programs for families.
Discussing the importance of hosting this event for the South L.A. community, Leandro Tyberg, a founder of Primestor, said, “We’re standing in front of a project that burned down during the civil unrest. We started the company the year after that as a response to what we saw in the neighborhoods we love. There is no community more deserving of a new chance than this one when it comes to investing and rebuilding, so it is all very personal.”
According to the description, Evermont will be “a mixed-use development consisting of affordable housing, retail, and schooling, and is only one example of how Primestor uses real estate to address community needs and support under-resourced communities in Los Angeles.” In addition to Primestor, BRIDGE Housing has two affordable housing developments underway on the site, Luminus @ Evermont and Vista @ Evermont, that are expected to be completed in October 2024.
Community members also reveled in the happiness this event brought to her family. One resident said, “I am glad we are able to have free events like this to bring our kids to especially during the summer when school is out. It’s nice to see our community come together.”
