You might recall my getting started on this topic started with “Conversations with the Almighty God.” Job’s calamities are brought on by “the adversary” who is called Satan.

You will also recall (although I was limited in my writing) that the adversary came to “The Almighty’s heavenly angelic meeting of divine beings. The adversary took the liberty of attending Jehovah’s court. Satan is a created being, you know.

During Satan’s attendance at the meeting, God gave him the liberty of speaking and conversing with Him. There was a conversation between the Almighty and the adversary.

God seated on His throne allowed (gave Satan permission) to severely harass Job because in the adversary’s opinion Job had been too protected by God. God asked the adversary, “What have you been doing?” He replied, “I’ve been walking around to and fro on your earth seeing who I can do some dirty deeds on.” (I’m paraphrasing. There were two conversations in the book of Job between God and the adversary.)

Although Job triumphs over his calamities, he was severely stricken in health and wealth. He suffered through losing his place in society and loss of the lives of his children. However, all was  restored in double portions.

In this case with Job, God had allowed these attacks like an armed opposing enemy; God was behind this attack, knowing He would see Job through his tremendous sufferings. This experience of Job’s cannot all be explained here. What we know is that our God whom we serve, Jesus Christ, will bring us out and see us through.

As my thoughts moved through Job, “BAM!!!” Israel is sieged on Saturday, attacked by an opposing armed force seeking to destroy Israel! Surely, you must have heard of some of the horrific deeds to Israeli children and adults (burning children, killing families, taking U.S. citizens hostage and many other evils. That is Hamas. This is nothing new.

One of my first questions after hearing the shocking news that Israel had been attacked was, “Who is Hamas? Who are they?” I was also interested in knowing why did they think they could defeat Israel or did they even think they could? I don’t think they really thought they could take Israel without a stronger friend, like Iran, who was behind this.

As the news began to break more information, on October 12, we learned through media broadcasts that Iran is behind all this (according to the news reports). I had suspected all along. However, my curiosity gained a foothold and footprints in my thinking and immediately went to the prophecies of “The ten-nation confederacy” prophesied and spoken of in Psalm 83, in Daniel as well as referenced in Isaiah 63 and the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ given to John to write.

This militant group (Hamas) has controlled the Gaza Strip (about 2 million people) since 2007, which is about the size of Washington D.C., and has been fighting wars against Israel – (four wars to attempt wiping our Israel).  The United States regards Hamas as a terrorist organization.

I said to myself, why would this organization attempt a fifth time to take on Israel. I did not believe they would take on such a strong enemy without strong “other nations” support.

Jerusalemwas proclaimed as the “eternal” and “sacred” capital of Israelon December 5, 1949, by the country’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion.  From 1949 until 1967, West Jerusalem served as Israel’s capital, but was not recognized as such internationally. As a result of the Six-Day War in 1967, the whole of Jerusalemhttps://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=db882f6e4168b4e0JmltdHM9MTY5NzA2ODgwMCZpZ3VpZD0wNmQ5MDkwOC04NTRiLTZiNmMtMzRhYS0xYjI1ODRiMDZhMTQmaW5zaWQ9NTYxMg&ptn=3&hsh=3&fclid=06d90908-854b-6b6c-34aa-1b2584b06a14&u=a1L3NlYXJjaD9xPVJldW5pZmljYXRpb24lMjBvZiUyMEplcnVzYWxlbSUyMHdpa2lwZWRpYSZmb3JtPVdJS0lSRQ&ntb=1  came under Israeli control.

The news media states the Hamas siege was that of Israel, but not Jerusalem specifically.  Many nations have sought to destroy Israel and put them off the map altogether.

Historical Biblical records record the first siege of Jerusalem spoken of in Judges 1:8, about 1443 B.C. So, from about 1443 B.C. to about 1244 A.D. 27, sieges of Jerusalem are recorded. As stated, my thoughts turned to “The ten confederate nations” as stated in Psalm 83, which lists the confederate nations with the Old Testament names.

We will talk more about this next time and learn the current, modern names as they exist today with more recognized names and their locations.
