Gay Love from the Glove?

No!” say Michael Jackson’s former bodyguards

Day 322, Week 46, Article 45

It has been reported that Jason Pfeiffer, the officer manager of Michael Jackson’s former dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein, alleges that he received homosexual love from the Glove. However, the Gloved One’s former bodyguards contradict Pfeiffer in a soon-to-be released book revealing Michael’s girlfriends. But one need not wait for the tell-all. Michael himself does not closet his feelings on homosexuality. In a memorable Time magazine piece where his cheerful, cherubic face graced the cover (March 19, 1984), an exchange between the King of Pop and his vocal coach, Seth Riggs, went as follows:

“‘You know, everybody thinks you’re gay,’ Vocal Coach Seth Riggs told him one day during a break in a vocal lesson. ‘I know,’ Jackson laughed. ‘The other day a big, tall, blond, nice-looking fellow came up to me and said, “Gee, Michael, I think you’re wonderful. I sure would like to go to bed with you.” I looked at him and said, “When’s the last time you read the Bible? You know you really should read it because there is some real information in there about homosexuality.” The guy says, “I guess if I’d been a girl, it would have been different.” And I said, “No, there are some very direct words on that in the Bible too.”‘” So, what does the Bible say about male homosexuality?

Old Testament: On one occasion during the time of God’s faithful servant Lot, gay men wanted to have sex with materialized angels that visited him. “They shouted to Lot, ‘Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!'” (Gen. 19:5, New Living Bible) It didn’t happen. God destroyed those gay men and several cities filled with male homosexuals. (Gen. 19:1-29) Hundreds of years later, God revealed that his thoughts on homosexuality were unchanged. “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.” (Lev. 18:22, NLB) “If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.” (Lev. 20:13, NLB) While these texts are from the now fulfilled Law of Moses, they reflect God’s view of male homosexuality. Although he respected everyone and wished the best for all, Michael Jackson embraced the spirit of these texts. But what about the second part of the Bible? Did God suddenly become “politically correct”?

New Testament: “Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God?,” asked the inspired apostle Paul. “Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,” will not remain in God’s favor. (1 Cor. 6:9-11, NLB) Michael felt that the tall, good-looking blonde man who propositioned him was mixed up; spiritually disoriented. “That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.” (Rom. 1:26, 27, NLB).

Conclusion: Again, Michael Jackson loved and respected EVERYONE, irrespective of their sexual orientation. But those who believed him to be gay didn’t really know the man. While he had his challenges during the final years of his life, he still claimed to believe in the Bible and to identify himself as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In doing so, there was no room for homosexuality in his life. Peace and blessings to all. Amen.
