The Dozier Singers Family and Friends (DSF) will hold their second annual Fathers’ Day Concert and Dinner on Sunday, June 19, at 5 p.m. at the Chester Washington Golf Course, 1818 Charlie Sifford Drive (120th St. at Western Avenue) in Los Angeles.
The theme is “Dance with my Father Again.” In addition to dinner, the event will include music, theater and poetry. Also, Gardena City Councilman Mark Henderson, Ed.D, will receive the Man of the Year Award from the Western Jurisdiction of United Methodist Men.
Dr. Henderson is a member of the Gardena City Council and is now serving as Mayor Pro Tem. He is a member of a community-based organization called “The Brothers,” which advocates academic achievement, visioning, mentoring, and life mapping to assist African-American and Latino youth in succeeding in the professional business environment.
“DSF will sing several original compositions and a few old favorites that will have attendees dancing in the aisles,” said Western Jurisdiction United Methodist Men’s President Richard Kim. Vocalists Tamra Dozier and Fay Keyes will also perform.
“If you like gospel great Rance Allen, you will love Ms. Keyes,” said Larry Dozier, DSF manager and WJUMMen vice president.
Prizes will be awarded to the oldest and youngest father and the father with the most children in attendance. Each will receive a copy of Dr. Osmond Lindo’s book, Real Men Read Jesus’ Parables. Dr. Lindo was the Man of the Year honoree for 2015.
Reservations are requested by June 10. The donation is $45 for adults, two for $85, and $25 for children under 12. To RSVP, call (310) 719-8974, (310) 365-1331, or email [email protected].
