On a day where Kobe Bryant was inducted into the Hall of Fame, the Dodgers beat the Marlins in a shutout 7-0. Trevor Bauer 10 strikeouts contributed to the win over the Marlins. The Dodgers have won four straight and they are now 22-17.
Manager Dave Roberts paid homage to the icon Kobe Bryant. “He’s a legend and an icon. When you talk about legacy there’s a lot of things and a lot of people he impacted off the court.”
Mookie Betts showed his respect by wearing the Kobe Protro HOF cleats.
Leadoff hitter Mookie Betts, couldn’t get going early, and the Dodgers weren’t able to score despite Marlins P Jordan Holloway making two walks.
In the second inning, Bauer struck out Garrett Cooper and Isah Diaz. The Marlins were not happy with the strike zones. Hitting coach Eric Duncan was ejected.
The Dodgers took momentum when Justin Turner and Max Muncy hit back to back hits in the 4th. They extended their lead 4-0 after the Muncy RBI.
The Dodgers took a big hit when Corey Seager was hit with a pitch in the right hand and left the game. Seager will be placed on the injured list and they expect to call up another infielder to replace him.
DJ Peters had a two-run single in the 8th inning. Gavin Lux scored the third run of the inning when Mookie Betts hit a fly ball.
Joe Kelly pitched a clean inning in the ninth, which gave the Dodgers their seventh shutout of the season. They have won 5 of their last 6 games and two straight series
In the middle of the game Dodgers acquired IF Yoshitomon Tsutsugo from the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations and a player to be named later.
The series wraps up today at 1:10 PM.
Future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols, are in agreement on a major league contract. Pujols presence will make it easier to rest Turner and Lux.
