WASHINGTON — In response to the Trump Administration’s elimination of critical reproductive health services provided by the Title X program, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) issued the following statement:

Let me be crystal clear: reproductive rights are human rights.

The Trump Administration’s Domestic Gag Rule is further putting our humanity at stake, preventing people throughout the United States from accessing health care and family planning services. Nearly 4 million people, including thousands across the Massachusetts 7th, rely on the Title X program to responsibly plan for their future and safeguard their sexual health. This Gag Rule robs our most marginalized communities of critical medical resources and will jeopardize their ability to access quality, affordable healthcare.

Title X empowers people throughout the United States to take control of their reproductive health and family planning decisions. I will not allow this administration to attack our reproductive freedoms and put our future at risk.

I stand ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to affirm that reproductive rights are not up for debate.

Recently, Congresswoman Pressley was awarded the 2019 Susan M. Love Award by Fenway Health, an LGBTQIA healthcare, research and advocacy organization headquartered in Boston, MA. The Susan M. Love Award is presented to a member of the Massachusetts community who has made a significant contribution to the field of women’s health.
