Dr. Barbara McCoo Lewis will headline the 2015 Annual Day Conference and 25th Anniversary “Special Recognition” Luncheon hosted by the Business and Professional Women’s Federation (BPWF) of the Southern California First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC).

The event takes place on Saturday, September 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Crystal Room at West Angeles Church of God in Christ, 3045 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles. Dr. Wanda Barnett Street, M.D., is the event chair, Attorney Sheila Bankhead Grisham is the co-chair, Bishop Joe Ealy is the First Jurisdiction presiding prelate and Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake is the host pastor.

Dr. Lewis, who serves as the COGIC assistant international general supervisor, and jurisdictional supervisor, will address the conference theme, “Victorious Women – Extremely Committed to the Work.”  The scripture reference is John 17:4.

According to Attorney Grisham, event co-chair, women and men of all faiths will benefit from the workshops and all prior BPWF honorees are invited to attend.

“Our agenda is based on Presiding Bishop Blake’s “Urban Initiative” prescription and features sessions to equip urban women and men for expanded economic development through advances in education, employment and entrepreneurship.

“We will have dynamic speakers leading discussions on Strategic Career Planning, Global Business Development, Dynamic “Transformative” Organizational Leadership, and Mentorship and Networking,” said Grisham.

The BPWF will salute the inaugural 1990 honorees, Bishop Terence Rhone, M.D.,  Lady Elizabeth Rhone, the late Mother Dolores Cross, Supervisor Frances Harris, the first keynote speaker, and writer Honey Butler Bryant for their original involvement 25 years ago.  Also, Mrs. Frances Miller Harris, BPWF international president, will be recognized along with Mrs. Mary Snow, an early conference coordinator, who will celebrate her 90th birthday at the event.
