This is the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is when people tend to see the best in others and we open our hearts to their needs. Christians also focus on the birth of Christ, but so many people take CHRIST out of Christmas and replace it with a X. How many of us have seen “Xmas” verses Christmas? I respect the faith, practices and customs of others, but as a Christian I can’t shy away from my beliefs. There is a reason why the word Christmas also includes the name of Christ. I want to share the following acronym that I feel will help us remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

C = a time to keep Christ first in all we do as we share the season with others. We believe it is His birthday which means we should give gifts to him by sharing even with the least of these. Have you done something for someone that can do nothing for you in return this season? Have you gotten out of your comfort zone and wrote a check to a charity that helps those in need or volunteered your time?

H = a time to celebrate home and family. Home is where all of our first memories are created. Dr. James and Shirley Dobson always talked about the importance of creating positive family memories at home. While you help others don’t forget those who need you at home.

R = a time to reflect on God’s goodness and all the blessings in our life. Some of us may have experienced loss or tragedy this past year, but we can heal, move forward and help others along their journey.

I = a time to spend some intimate time with the Lord and understand the true meaning of His birth. Take a moment to just sit in silence and hear what He has to say to you.

S = a time to see the Savior, Lord of Lord, King of Kings and the Son of God.

T = is a time to start your own family traditions. What do you want your family legacy to be? What traditions do you want to keep alive and pass from one generation to the next? Don’t forget the true meaning of Christmas.

M = is a time to honor the baby born in a manger because there was no room in the inn. Do we make time for those who may need a place to lay their head? Even if we can’t take someone into our home, we can donate to those that are helping the homeless.

A = is a time to acknowledge the abundance we have in this country. We overflow with blessings and we must share with others.

S = is a time to share His spirit to those we come in contact with every day. Be bold and remember we may be the only bible others may get a chance to read and experience. No matter your beliefs we can all show love and kindness.

From our house to yours we wish each and every one a happy, blessed and Merry CHRISTmas!
