“I’m humbled that so many people are supporting our campaign and my vision for new leadership in the DA’s office,” said Chemerinsky.

“In the final weeks before the primary, I look forward to meeting as many L.A. County residents as I can and discussing how, as District Attorney, I can help address their concerns about public safety, our criminal justice system and their quality of life.”

A federal prosecutor, Chemerinsky served as Chief of the Violent and Organized Crime section of the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, until he stepped down in September to become a candidate for DA.

He has never lost a case, and personally prosecuted cases involving murder, sex trafficking, firearms trafficking, corruption, and sex assault offenses. He won convictions of more than 30 members of the MS-13 gang, including the leader of MS-13 in Los Angeles, and the leader of the East Coast Crips. He also led federal robbery prosecutions for the office, partnering with local law enforcement agencies to win convictions in many major organized retail theft cases.

In addition to his trial experience, Chemerinsky brings significant management experience overseeing a large team of attorneys and staff for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, which is the largest federal judicial district in the nation, serving 19 million people living in Los Angeles and six other Southern California counties.

In recent weeks, he has received endorsements from the L.A. League of Conservation Voters, New Frontier Democratic Club, Heart of LA Democratic Club, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, L.A. City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto, L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, former Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg, former U.S. Congressmembers Yvonne Burke and Henry Waxman, leading civil rights attorney Connie Rice, and three former presidents of the LA Police Commission.
