She started her career at the paper in 1986 where she served under Ruth Washington, co-founder of the Sentinel with her husband, the late Col. Leon Washington, Jr.  Angela continued to share her many talents during the ownership of Kenneth and Jennifer Thomas as well as with current executive publisher Danny J. Bakewell, Sr.

While she designed many award-winning issues of the L.A. Sentinel, Angela devoted comparable energy to aiding others through her volunteer service with Mothers In Action programs and by opening two halfway homes for individuals suffering from physical and mental challenges. In addition, she was an expert seamstress and consistently dressed in the latest fashions.

Angela was a loving mother to Jacquez and Arhomuz Jr., and a beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose memory will forever uplift and encourage everone who knew her.
