The first Platform Workshop for Christian Songwriters takes place on Saturday, August 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Crenshaw Christian Center.
The event, presented in association with CCC Worship Arts, is founded by Carol Ross-Burnett. It is the first in a series designed to provide instruction and networking opportunities for aspiring and experienced Christian artists.
“I created The Platform to provide opportunities for Christian singers, songwriters, speakers and authors to develop their skills and get their voices heard,” said Ross-Burnett.
Babbie Mason, along with Cheryl Price and Attorney William A. Brown, Jr., will also participate, she added.
“Babbie has had a long and successful career as a Christian songwriter and gospel singer in full-time music ministry. Many well-known artists have recorded her songs, including Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans and Helen Baylor.”
“I’m delighted to join my long-time friend and songwriting buddy, Carol Ross-Burnett, for the first Platform Workshop,” said Mason, who also teaches songwriting at several colleges.
“I’ll share secrets of writing a great song and memorable lyrics, talk about defining the calling and inform participants how to get their music heard on Christian radio.”
