True Friendship Missionary Baptist Church plans appreciation services for Pastor James and First Lady Evelyn Perkins at 7901 South Van Ness Ave., in Inglewood. On Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., “An Evening of Celebration in Songs” will take place will many guest artists. On Feb. 24, at 8 a.m., Pastor C. D. LeGrande of Great Hope Baptist Church will preach; at 10:45 a.m., the Rev. Dr. Henry Brown of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church will bring the message; and at 3 p.m., Pastor R.A. Walker Temple AME Church celebrates its 68th anniversary on Feb. 24, at 3 p.m., at 2525 Trinity St., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Marvin MacKenzie. Holman United Methodist Church features its 59th annual Concert of Negro Spirituals on Feb. 24, at 4 p.m., at 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles, said Bishop Warner Brown Jr., pastor. William Campbell Jr. will direct the Holman choir and Robert Johnson Jr. will accompany on the organ. The donations are $15, $25 and $50. The Celebration of Life Service for Bishop L. Daniel Williams takes place on March 1, at 11 a.m., at Citizens of Zion Baptist Church, 12930 S. Lime Ave., in Compton, said Pastor Bobby Newman, Jr.  Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Sr., Williams’ father in the ministry, and Bishop Rudolph W. McKissick, Jr., both of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church in Jacksonville, FL, will give eulogies. Serving in the ministry for 44 years, Williams was prominent in both the faith and civic communities.  He worked with faith leaders, elected officials and community members to address social issues affecting disadvantaged people.
