Pastor Mary S. Minor and the members of Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church (BKCAMEC) dedicated their new edifice on Dec. 4.

The joyous service featured a sermon Bishop Clement W. Fugh, presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District of the AME Church and retired Bishop Theodore Larry Kirkland, Sr., the first pastor of Brookins.

Also, the church received congratulations from U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, retired U.S. Congresswoman Diane Watson on behalf of U.S. Congresswoman Karen Bass, 8th District Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson and District Director Sydney Kamlager-Dove on behalf State Senator Holly Mitchell.

BKCAMEC is located at 3719 W. Slauson Ave., in Los Angeles. Issuing a community invitation, Kirkland said, “I encourage all former members of Brookins AME Church – people who were married there, had children baptized, held special events or hold precious memories of our fellowship – to worship with me at Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church.”
