LeBron James Jr. (Bronny), son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James Sr., and Savannah James, suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday during a basketball workout at USC.
The ‘Athletic’ reported that James “collapsed on the court and was taken to the hospital. The school’s medical staff treated him”. Bronny is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU. The James family released the following statement:
“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and will update the media when there is more information.”
Bronny James, an entering freshman at USC, was a four-star recruit. A graduate of Sierra Canyon, he averaged 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds during his senior year. He helped lead Sierra Canyon to three Mission League titles.

James, 18, is the eldest son of LeBron and Savannah, who are also parents to Bryce Maximus, 16, and Zhuri Nova, 8. James Sr. spoke of his pride in Bronny as he turned 18:
“How is this kid 18 years old today y’all!!?? I can’t deal with it. I’m so proud of the young man you’ve become, kid! Continue to be YOU throughout your journey because it’s simply better that way.” James Sr. promised to “be right beside you whenever/however needed.”
His mother, Savannah, echoed those sentiments, writing:
“I’m so proud of the man you have become, and I look forward to seeing you thrive and be great in the future!!!”
LeBron Sr. has consistently said he wants to play with Bronny in his final NBA year.
“My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be,” James said.
