“We were elated to present Mayor McMorrin with this year’s TrailBlazer Award,” President Maurice Johnson said.
“As the first Black woman to lead Culver City, which was formerly a sundown town, it was important that we celebrated her work to move the city forward focusing on the unhoused population, public and community safety, and small business support.”
The event aimed to mobilize young, progressive leaders and raise financial support for BLAYD’s advocacy efforts, which focus on developing future leaders, impacting political trends, and supporting grassroots organizations across Los Angeles County. The Sneaker Ball also served as a platform to showcase local organizations and strengthen ties within the community.
Attendees enjoyed a night filled with exciting entertainment, delicious cuisine, and meaningful networking opportunities. The VIP reception brought together elected officials, coalition leaders, community organizers, and young influencers from across the region, all committed to driving positive change and progress in Los Angeles.
