The faith community expressed deep sadness with the passing of Bishop Robert T. Douglas, Sr., pastor of Jacob’s Ladder Community Fellowship in Inglewood.
Bishop Douglas, who passed away on August 5, was the presiding prelate of the 66th Episcopal District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World and diocesan of the Central California District Council.
The celebration of his life and legacy begins on Thursday, August 22 with a public viewing at 12 p.m. and memorial at 7 p.m. at Greater Emmanuel Temple, 3740 E. Imperial Highway in Lynwood. On Friday, August 23, at 10 a.m. the homegoing service will take place at West Angeles Cathedral, 3600 Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles. The pre-service viewing will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Bishop Douglas was a longtime advocate of religious education and founder of the California University of Theology. Also, he served as president of the Inglewood Area Ministers Association, charter member of the Inglewood Unified School district’s Strategic Planning Committee, and a member of the LAUSD Measure K Oversight Committee.
His survivors are his wife, Dr. Paulette Douglas; children, Shakinah, Robert Jr., and Sondra Imani; six grandchildren, and a host of relatives, friends and church members.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the California University of Theology Dr. Robert T. Douglas Scholarship.
