The 2018 nationally renowned Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) rides into the City of Industry Saturday, July 21st/6:30pm and Sunday, July 22nd, 2018 at 3:30pm at the Industry Hills Expo Center located at 16200 Temple Ave, City of Industry, CA 91744. Consistently, for over 34 years, the BPIR toured throughout the U.S.A. entertaining millions with thrilling professional rodeo competitions of the most skilled and entertaining Black cowboys and cowgirls worldwide.
Southern Californians will enjoy African American cowboys, cowgirls and youngsters choke dust and cheer for hard riding competitors as they battle to be named the best after a season of competition; spectators, competitors. Attendees from all communities of Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties can expect their favorite competitors during thrilling Calf Ropin’, exhilarating Bareback Ridin’, Bull Doggin, Ladies Barrel Racin’, Junior Barrel Racin’, Ladies Steer Undecoratin’, and gripping Bull Ridin. It’s ALWAYS a great weekend of high family entertainment and scrumptious food!
New to the BPIR is a free Healthy Pavilion where guests can receive free health screenings, health education,and participate in a family fitness competition.
The 34th BPIR continues on to keep the legacy of its’ founder Lu Vason alive with the same professional, family oriented and always exciting entertainment. It is the longest running African American Family Event other than the Ebony Fashion Fair that toured for 50 years. Lu Vason passed away at the age of 76 on May 17, 2015. Actors, Glynn Turman, James Pickens, Jr., Oba Babatune and Reginald T. Dorsey return as the Official Grand Marshall’s for the year’s rodeo. In addition, live performances are being scheduled. The BPIR is accepting requests for singers and performers . While there is no pay, performers receive tickets, a meal and awesome grass root community exposure.
