The Rev. Robert Lee Lockett, pastor of Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church, passed away on October 17. He was 65-years-old.
His homegoing service is set for Saturday, October 29, at 11 a.m., at Bethesda Temple, 4909 S. Crenshaw Blvd., in Los Angeles.
Lockett was born on March 24, 1951 and raised in Delano California. A charter member of Bethesda, he served as assistant pastor for 28 years before being appointed pastor earlier in 2016.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Lockett later worked for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He rose to the position of captain during his long career and served 35 years at Fire Station 38.
“Pastor Lockett’s profession before retirement as a fire fighter was without controversy. He helped to save many people and his uncompromising commission as a minister was saving souls,” said Bethesda member Oni Adunni.
Cherishing Pastor Lockett’s memory are his wife of 39 years, Lorraine; four children, several siblings, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and Bethesda Temple congregants.
