Barry Simmons, senior vice president and west region executive for Bank of America, will serve as the west coast chair of the annual March of Dimes March for Babies walks in April and May of this year. Nearly 100,000 walkers, volunteers, and donors will join the fight against birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality by participating in one of 19 walks being held throughout California.
The March of Dimes’ mission to improve the health of babies aligns with Bank of America’s long-standing goal to improve the health and vitality of communities across the U.S., according to B of A officials.

Nearly 50,000 babies are born prematurely every year in California. 15,000 California babies are born with a birth defect. 2,500 babies do not live to see their first birthday.
