Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson and Mrs. LeCresha Gipson will welcome hundreds of guests on Saturday, May 19, 2018 for the 7th Annual ‘Women’s Leadership Breakfast at the Juanita Millender McDonald Community Center in Carson where local women will be honored for their unselfish commitment to improving the lives of others.
“We honor talented and humble women who quietly achieve great things in the service of their communities,” said Assemblymember Gipson. “They have exhibited resiliency and a spirit of generosity that undoubtedly comes from hard work and faith.”
“2018 is referred to as the ‘Year of the Woman,’” noted Mrs. Gipson. “This is not a new term, but it does speak to a re-energized push for equity and more representation. It’s an emboldened voice against sexual harassment and other injustices. Women are seeking political office more than ever and school aged girls are introduced to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers. We are celebrating empowerment.”
