The event took place at the Fascinate House in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The evening commenced at 7 pm with an opening dance performance, followed by the eagerly awaited screening. The finale event culminated in a catered dinner and a panel discussion featuring writers and co-creators, Serena M. Lee and Kristin Iris Johnson, along with several cast members.
Kristin Iris Johnson shared, “Me and my co-creator Serena Lee have always loved witch shows, but we never get to see them with black characters or with black women-centered. We created the type of show we always wanted to see. Now we have three seasons.” She further added, “We were able to highlight alternate spiritual practices and show that they are not evil. This is important because, as black people, we are not a monolith and we do have diverse spiritual practices.”
Though “Wicked City” is filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, event hosts and co-stars Rhonda Morman and Malika Blessing, natives of the Los Angeles area, frequently return to celebrate their success with their fans and loved ones. The Fascinate House provided a fitting backdrop for the finale with a friendly event space.
This series challenges the typical horror genre stereotypes and demonstrates that magical fantasy can have strong female leads with compelling storylines that focus on more than just gore. Season four promises the return of actor Chris Sakyi as Taj, adding another layer to the unfolding drama.
“We are so excited to present our third season, featuring Bailee Freeman, India Marie Cross, Shaquita Smith, and Chris Sakyi,” mentioned hostess Malika Blessing. “We just wanted to share this great experience with everyone. We did three seasons together, and we wanted to give back and give love to everyone and hopefully, we’ve made you happy and proud, so thank you.”
