Corporate America’s Nazi-inspired Glass Ceiling
There is a fascinating book that’s been out for some time now that one of my university history students told me about some years ago. Lies My Teacher Told Me (1995) by James Loewen has a captivating title that’s truly accurate. We’ve been lied to by the very educational system that’s supposed to be illuminating us. And though what I’ll share with you about Nazi Germany’s on-going influence in corporate America—as well as in the warp and woof of the American flag itself—isn’t covered in the book, you should pick it up anyway. We’ve been lied to in another way as well. Russian poet Yevgeny Yevteshenko once wrote, “Truth is replaced by silence, and the silence is a lie.” In other words, pertinent historical information that has been purposefully kept from us also qualifies as a lie. These lies are connected to the real reasons why that well qualified Black man didn’t get the promotion. You’re about to see—up close—the ugly face of institutional racism, starting with one of the nation’s largest diversified media companies.
Hearst Corporation: According to the book The Culture of Make Believe (2002) by Derrick Jensen, William Randolph Hearst I “struck a deal with Hitler to guarantee favorable coverage of the fascists in Hearst-run newspapers.” Just how powerful did the Hearst Empire grow to be? Well, after making a success of The San Francisco Examiner and the acquisition of The New York Journal, he “engaged in a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World which led to the creation of ‘yellow journalism’—sensationalized stories of dubious veracity,” says one source. “Acquiring more newspapers, Hearst created a chain that numbered nearly 30 papers in major American cities at its peak. He later expanded to magazines, creating the largest newspaper and magazine business in the world.” Additionally, “through his newspapers and magazines, he exercised enormous political influence.” Having “struck a deal with Hitler,” is there any wonder why many believe there’s a glass ceiling emblazoned with a swastika in the Hearst-influenced American print and electronic media today?
Aluminum Company of America (“Alcoa”): An international conglomerate today, this company denied the US government aluminum that would have ended World War II more expeditiously. Shockingly, Alcoa had an agreement with Hitler’s Nazi-run chemical company IG Farben. “During the Nazi era, [IG Farben] began manufacturing Zyklon B,” according to one source, “[which] was used as the lethal agent in the gas chambers of the death camps of Auschwitz and Majdanek. The company was a major user of slave labour.” Before the outbreak of World War II (WWII) the Justice Department under President Franklin D. Roosevelt charged Alcoa with illegal monopolization and demanded that the would-be conglomerate be dissolved. Consequently, Alcoa refused to help America during the war, which led Harold Ickes, then Secretary of the Interior, to remark: “If America loses this war, it can thank the Aluminum Corporation of America.”
The Du Pont Company: The Culture of Make Believe states that “Irénée du Pont, the most powerful member of the family, was, to use the words of biographer and historian Charles Higham, ‘obsessed’ with the principles of Hitler: ‘He keenly followed the career of the future Fuhrer in the 1920s, and on September 7, 1926, in a speech to the American Chemical Society, he advocated a race of supermen, to be achieved by injecting special drugs into them in boyhood to make their characters to order.’” An Aryan race of supermen to enforce white supremacy! Not surprisingly, in his support of Adolf Hitler, Irénée du Pont “was implicated in the Business Plot to reduce President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s power,” says Wikipedia on-line encyclopedia. With the motto, “the miracles of science,” Du Pont presently operates in more than 70 countries.
Exxon, Ford, and General Motors: “DuPont used General Motors money (GM was controlled by DuPont) to finance something called the Black Legion, sort of a kkk with black, instead of white, robes, that did much the same thing as the kkk: firebomb union halls and kill union organizers and African Americans. General Motors supplied trucks for Hitler’s war machine (as did Ford), and [John D. Rockefeller’s] Standard Oil (now Exxon) supplied gas and rubber, often at terms better than those supplied to the United States,” per The Culture of Make Believe. After the war, both Ford and GM applied for and received reparations from the US government.
International Telephone & Telegraph (ITT): “According to Anthony Sampson’s book The Sovereign State of ITT,” says Wikipedia, “one of the first American businessmen Hitler received after taking power in 1933 was Sosthenes Behn, then the CEO of ITT.” Also, “Antony C. Sutton, in his book Wall Street and the Rise of Hitler, makes the claim that ITT subsidiaries made cash payments to S.S. leader Heinrich Himmler.” The Culture of Make Believe quotes one historian as saying ITT built “switchboards, telephones, alarm gongs, buoys, air raid warning devices, radar equipment, and thirty thousand fuses per month for artillery shells used to kill British and American troops.” Far-reaching effects? “Without this supply of crucial materials, it would have been impossible for the German air force to kill American and British troops, for the German army to fight the Allies in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany, for England to have been bombed, or for Allied ships to have been attacked at sea.”
NASA Nazis: Dr. Wernher Von Braun is described as the ‘Father’ of America’s space program. In 1970, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) appointed him Deputy Associate Administrator for Planning. His background? At age 27 he was the leading Nazi rocket scientist stationed at the infamous Camp Dora, a Nazi slave labor camp where an underground weapons factory called Mittelwerk was located, and where 27,000 slaves died. As an influential member of the SS, he “worked hard to inflict more pain and suffering on the slave population,” and by 1944, he was “the main man at Mittelwerk, ensconced in a comfortable office with a window that looked out onto the courtyard where any slaves caught attempting to sabotage his mad inventions were tortured and hanged.” (See my book Germany’s Black Holocaust: 1890-1945, pp. 95-7.)
The companies above are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Furthermore, a quiet CIA explosion spread Nazi scientists and others like gangrene across the world of academia in the US toward the end and just after WWII. Mainstream American history books are quiet on these matters. They lie through silence.
With the propagation, proliferation, and permeation of White racism against Blacks in America it would appear that the mythological Norse god of the Nazis, Thor, the blonde-haired blue-eyed god of Thunder and son of Odin (the alleged king of the gods and goddesses), is protecting the glass ceiling with his powerful hammer. He has even been rewarded by his worshipers with his own day of the week, Thursday (or “Thor’s Day”). Given all the foregoing, might this be the god that blesses America?
Word (or term) for the Week (or is it “Weak”?): whited sepulcher: “a person inwardly corrupt or wicked but outwardly or professedly virtuous or holy.”—Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary. See also Matt. 23:27, 28.
