Monique Nicole Redmon, a dedicated child of God and active member of Bethel AME Church, has gone home to be with the Lord. Her vivacious spirit and beautiful smile encouraged every person who entered her orbit here on earth.

A celebration of Monique’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., Bethel AME, located at 7900 S. Western Avenue in L.A.  The eulogist will be the Rev. Dr. Kelvin T. Calloway, senior pastor. The service will also be livestreamed at https://powerbliss.com/monique.

A native of Southern California, Monique was born on June 26, 1973, to the Rev. James and Mrs. Saundria Redmon. She was educated in the Monrovia Unified School District and attended Mayflower Elementary School, Clifton Middle School, and Monrovia High School. After graduation, she continued her education at Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Always industrious, Monique worked at Garr, Crystal Stairs, Inc. and AAA where she continued to sow seeds of light and comfort into everyone she spoke to when she passed.

Throughout her life, she freely shared her time and talents with the church. According to her sister, Rev. Jameka Redmon Matthews, Monique was “a very active member at the churches her Dad pastored, which were St. John Holy Trinity AME in Palmdale, Bethel AME in Monrovia, St. Stephens AME in L.A., and St. Mark AME, also in Los Angeles.

For the past three decades, Monique was a member of Bethel AME in L.A. and served in a variety of capacities.  She was the director of the Young People’s Division (YPD), taught Sunday School, and sang with the Praise Team. In addition, she was a member of the Young Adult Usher Board and Women’s Missionary Society (WMS). Monique also served as the recording secretary and YPD director of the Southern California Conference WMS.

She is preceded in death by her father, the Rev. James Redmon; grandparents, cousins and friends.  Cherishing her memory are her mother, Mom, Mrs. Saundria Redmon; sister, Rev. Jameka (Ronell) Redmon Matthews; nephews, Matthew  Redmon and Nigel Matthews; niece, Shanae Matthews; along with her godmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, best friends, church family and more.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Young People’s and Children’s Division of Bethel AME – L.A. in memory of Monique, the local YPD Director. Contributions can be made via givelify Bethel AME Church.
