It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Jean Henson announce her passing on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in Lynwood, California at the age of 91.
Helen Jean Henson (nee Edmond) was born on January 29, 1930 in Dallas, Texas, the only daughter of Johnnie Mae Nichols (nee Crayton); and was raised by her mother and Andy Nichols, whom she lovingly referred as her Daddy.
She arrived in Los Angeles, CA in 1942, attended Polytechnic High School, and held various occupations in her life.
Helen accepted Christ as her Savior, was baptized at 110th and Wilmington Church of Christ in Los Angeles, and was an active member of the Eastside and 110th and Wilmington congregations.
Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of her sons, Gregory Crayton Lawrence and Freddie James Henson, Jr; her daughter, Brenda Faye Peterson Henson; her cousin, John (Butch) Crayton, her granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-great-granddaughter, her daughter-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie James Henson; her mother and daddy, Johnnie Mae and Andy Nichols; her son, Robert Anthony Lawrence; her grandsons, Gary William Lawrence and Tyrone Anthony McCoy, and Freddie James Henson III.
