Sandra J. Evers-Manly will be honored at the Women’s Day Service on Sunday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship Los Angeles (CCCF), 2085 S. Hobart Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Women’s Day is sponsors by CCCF’s Sisters in Christ Fellowship (SINC). The theme is “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” based on Psalm 139:14. The Century City Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter will also participate.
According to Pastor James and First Lady Denise McKnight, the service is part of the church’s observance of International Women’s Month from a Christian perspective, which celebrates the gifts and talents and the impact of women within the church and throughout the community.
“We encourage the community to join us as we salute Sandra J. Evers-Manly, a woman who lives her life purposefully with open eyes and an open heart ready and willing to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Pastor McKnight.
Evers-Manly, a businesswoman, author and philanthropist, also serves as vice president of Global Corporate Responsibility for Northrop Grumman Corporation. In addition, she is the founder and president of the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center, which supports emerging filmmakers. Her book, “Raised Up by Mrs. Manly and Her L’s,” was published last year.
First Lady McKnight, an education, disability and vocational rehabilitation counselor, will participate in the service along with Virginia Bland, chair of the CCCF Board of Trustees; Sherri McGee McCovey, a freelance writer for PBS-SoCal’s “To Foster Change;” Wendy Raquel Robinson, actress and founder of Amazing Grace Performing Arts Academy; and Lura Daniels Ball, SINC chair and celebrated vocalist.
