Lula Washington Dance Theatre’s summer programs culminated with a show-case of student performances on Friday, July 28, at the LWDT’s “Studio A” venue, at 3773 Crenshaw Blvd. in South L.A. The performances hallmark the efforts of the organization to provide dance resources to inner-city youth during the summer and throughout the year. “This summer the students learned Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Af-rican, Caribbean, Tap, Stepping, and Acting. Our focus is in inspiring young people to experience dance, and helping to help shape well-rounded and consciously aware artists and people,” said Tamica Washington-Miller, associate director, LWDT.
Every summer, for 37 years, LWDT offers a six-week Creative Expressions Dance Camp, where kids ages, 7 to 17, who experience a range of dance styles and are ex-posed to cultural enrichment activities that involve community arts resources in the local community.
