People in need can obtain many free resources through the Showers of Blessings Outreach Program, a partnership between 54th St. Seventh Day Adventist Church and the office of L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
Every Tuesday, beginning Oct. 8, at 9 a.m., portable showers will be available on the church’s campus located at 1973 W. 54th St., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Adolphus Garnett. Anyone can utilize the equipment as well as take advantage of free clothing, food, medical check-ups and social service referrals.
“We want to help those in need and be a blessing to the community,” said Sherlyn Flowers, church spokesperson. “This program is being carried out through our Community Services Department under the direction of Margaret Carson and many members will be volunteer their time and efforts to work on this project.”
Flowers added that individuals will be present to assist visitors in accessing the various services or receive information about other resources. Also, she said that pre-registration is not required and interested persons can just attend the program on Tuesdays.
