Council President Herb Wesson congratulates winners of a new bicycle, a raffle prize at one of the “Movies in the Park” events.
In what has become a summer tradition, Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr. has announced that he is again sponsoring free “Movies in the Park” this summer featuring family-friendly movies to be shown at parks in the 10th Council District. This will be the seventh year that Wesson has sponsored the summer movies series. This years’ event follows the enormous success of last year when the “Movies in the Park” series attracted over 3,000 area residents.
This Friday, September 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., the movie “Wreck It Ralph” will be shown at the Benny Potter Park Annex in the West Adams area, located at 2413 24th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90018.
The following Friday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m., the movie “Hotel Transylvania” will be shown at Westside Park, located at 3085 Clyde Avenue.
“This is a great opportunity for families in our community to have a nice evening of fun outdoors with their neighbors in a safe environment,” said Council President Wesson. “Going to the movies is an expensive outing these days for many families. So, we’ll have free hot dogs, hamburgers, and popcorn, and we’ll raffle some great prizes. Remember to bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and your family and friends and join everyone in having a good time.”
Wesson’s community partners in presenting “Movies in the Park” this year are the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the West Adams Neighborhood Council, the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council, the South Robertson Neighborhood Council, the Olympic Park Neighborhood Council, Community Build, Inc., and the 101 Enterprises Foundation.
The festivities at each park begin at 7:00 p.m., with the movies starting fifteen minutes after sundown.
