On Oct. 21st at The Greek Theater, music artist and entrepreneur, Nipsey Hussle, will headline a SOLD OUT star-studded concert presented by Californians for Safety and Justice to raise awareness about lifetime barriers people living with past convictions face.

The concert will be emceed by Hot 97 and Apple Music Beats 1 radio host Ebro Darden and 97.1 AMP radio host and “Queen of LA” Yesi Ortiz, and feature performances by the world-renowned DJ Cassidy, California-native Goapele, Orange is the New Black star Jackie Cruz, hip-hop artist and activist Mysonne, The Fugees’ John Forté and other special guests.

8 million Californians and 70 million people in this country have a conviction, and the 4,800 legal restrictions in California (and 48,000 nationally) block them from opportunities for employment, housing, education and even participating in their own child’s development – all things that could help people achieve economic security and family stability. This undermines the health and safety of communities.

The concert will also feature an Art Walk photo gallery showing how children and families are impacted by the persisting legal obstacles from convictions, and a “Wall of Barriers” that demonstrates the extent of the thousands of legal restrictions Californians continue to face after they have completed their sentences and terms of past convictions.
