Grant AME  – L.A. Celebrates 118th Anniversary

The congregation of Grant African Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate their 118th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m., in the sanctuary located at 10435 So. Central Ave., in Los Angeles, announced the Rev. Dr. Timothy O. Coston, Jr., senior pastor.

Tim McOsker Should be the Next Councilman for Council District 15

The current city councilman is Joe Busciano, who has now focused his sites on running for Mayor of Los Angeles in 2022. Busciano’s decision of not seeking reelection has now created an opening for whomever is interested. With the race over a year away, one man who has decided that he does want the job is Tim McOsker. McOsker, who is an attorney by trade, has been a long-standing servant of both the district and the City of Los Angeles.

Macedonia Baptist Church Celebrates 111th Anniversary

A spirit of rejoicing filled the air as Pastor Shane B. Scott and the members of Macedonia Baptist Church celebrated their 111th anniversary on Oct. 20. The spirited service was centered around the theme, “He Who Began a Good Work in Us,” based on Philippians 1:6. The Rev. Tree of Life Church Practices Innovative Ministry in Watts

Ministry takes different shapes at Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Pastor Marcus Murchinson, the Watts congregation goes beyond the church walls to provide services to benefit the local community. Through partnerships with area nonprofits combined with grant funding, the church uses its facilities to offer a youth feeding program, substance abuse treatment, a nurse managed clinic, transitional housing, and reentry classes for formerly incarcerated individuals. Operation Progress Announces Community Service Kickoff

On Saturday, March 5, Operation Progress, in partnership with Marymount High School’s Free the Children Club, will be participating in a twofold community service project that will benefit the Watts community. The students will begin their community service at the Southeast Police Station, helping LAPD officers clean, organize, repair, and beautify their station. Operation Progress pairs each of their student scholars with an LAPD mentor and this opportunity serves as a way to give back to the community of officers that diligently mentor them.
