BHERC ‘OPERATION LOVE’ DELIVERS MOTHERS’S DAY JOY AMID THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO SENIORS, HOMELESS AND SHELTERED MOMS IN LOS ANGELES AND WASHINTON, D.C.

The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) began its “Operation Love” activities in the wee hours of Sunday, May 10.  Their goal for this day, one of the most celebrated days of the calendar year across the globe, was to celebrate Mother’s Day with the personal delivery of 500 baskets of essential personal and gift items with dinner to Mother’s who have been in isolation due to the pandemic.  Mothers who are seniors, living in assisted living facilities and/or living in shelters and some who are homeless.  This national effort took place on both the West and East coast where an additional 500 Washington, D.C. residents received services.

Councilmember Harris-Dawson Launches Meal Program to Support South L.A Seniors and Small Businesses During COVID-19

City Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson launched an emergency program to provide free healthy meals to homebound seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic. This crisis presents a crucible for leaders and requires quick strategic thinking to preserve our communities.  The councilmember launched this innovative program to divert funding from community events that were canceled due to COVID-19, and support two highly vulnerable populations during the pandemic: homebound seniors; as well as small business owners and their employees.

Ward Villas Celebrated the 100th birthday of Mrs. Ada Marie Blair

Ada Marie Blair has reached a milestone of honor – Five scores – in her life’s walk.  On Wednesday Sept 18, 2019 she charted 100 years of life.  The celebrations have been joyous with family, friends and church family giving thanks and gifts, yet it was not enough to join with others, so Ward Economic Dev Corp planned a five-star party that surprised Mrs. Blair after she thought everything had been done.
