What time is it? It’s time to re-engage the fierce urgency of now and continue pressing forward on the issues of the day. It is time to stay involved, focused, and intentional in preventing voter suppression. It is time for truth telling about the heinous and abominable side of American democracy. We have no time to relax.
We have a responsibility, not to just honor what the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King stood for, but to continue fighting for the injustices of local and state governments who dare to take away our rights to vote.
Los Angeles Pastor Redeem Robinson of All Souls Church has joined a hunger strike as part of a national coalition of 25 faith leaders advocating for voting rights on the first anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol to urge Congress to pass voting rights legislation on or before Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Day on Jan. 17.
