NEW YORK (AP) — Hip-hop star Cardi B is walking into the 2019 BET Awards as the most nominated act with seven, while late rapper Nipsey Hussle scored a posthumous nomination. BET told the Associated Press late Thursday that Cardi B’s nominations include two for the top prize — video of the year — with her hits “Money” and “Please Me,” with Bruno Mars. ‘VH1 Trailblazer Honors’ Celebrates Director Ava DuVernay
NEW YORK (AP) — “VH1 Trailblazer Honors” will pay tribute to Academy Award-nominated director Ava DuVernay to kick off Women’s History Month. The 46-year-old’s screenwriter includes the films “Selma,” ″13TH” and “A Wrinkle In Time.” The 2018 fantasy movie made her the highest-grossing female black director in domestic box office history. DuVernay is a member of the board of Sundance Institute. She’s working on her next project, “Central Park Five,” and is overseeing production of her TV series “Queen Sugar.” “VH1 Trailblazer Honors” will air March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day.

RuPaul fought back tears as he accepted the star in front of the World of Wonder production offices at 6652 Hollywood Blvd. World of Wonder produces VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” which brought RuPaul prime-time Emmys as outstanding host of a reality or reality-competition program in 2016 and 2017.
