The Biden-Harris Administration is announcing additional steps to end discrimination and bias in the housing market. “More than 50 years since the Fair Housing Act’s passage, access to wealth through homeownership remains persistently unequal,” administration officials stated. “In his first week in office, President Biden issued a memorandum directing the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address discrimination in our housing market.”
The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) has completed its annual program performance review under the Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP), as required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HACLA’s Board of Commissioners approved HACLA’s 2019 SEMAP Certification for submission to HUD. HACLA projects an overall score of 145 out of 145 points for FY 2019. HACLA’s perfect score of 100% for 2019 will mark the fifth (5th) perfect score it has received in the last 12 years as a “High Performer.”

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded nearly $492 million to the State of California to support recovery efforts from the 2018 Camp, Hill and Woolsey Wildfires devastating communities in Butte, Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. This was part of nearly $1.5 billion awarded to support seven states in their recovery from major disasters that occurred last year, including Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Florence and flooding, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes in Hawaii.
