2021 Rose Parade canceled

With reluctance and tremendous disappointment, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association announces that, in accordance with Governor Newsom’s Phase IV re-opening schedule, and after thoughtful consideration of the restrictions and guidelines in place as a result of COVID-19, we are unable to host the 2021 Rose Parade.

CRAIG L. WASHINGTON ELECTED TO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE SERVING AS PRESIDENT IN 2028

The Tournament of Roses also announced the 2020-2021 leadership and organizational structure. Tournament of Roses Vice President Craig L. Washington, who has been a volunteer member since 2000, will serve as the Association’s President in 2028.  He will provide leadership for the 139th Rose Parade and 114th Rose Bowl Game on January 1, 2028. Washington was appointed a Tournament Chair in 2014 and a Tournament Director in 2016.  He has served as Chair of the Queen & Court, Equestrian, Student Ambassadors and Formation Area committees, as well as Vice Chair of Decorating Places, Coronation, Kickoff and Tailgate committees.  During this time, he

Lucille and Edward Roybal Foundation Raises Money for Local Community Educational Programs at Annual Legacy Gala in Pasadena

The Lucille and Edward Roybal Foundation held its annual Legacy Gala last week in Pasadena at the historic Tournament of Roses House. With more than 250 attendees, the Legacy Gala raised $100,000 for the foundation to support its programs that serve over 2,000 individuals each year with three basic principles – education, engagement and empowerment.

Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation Elects New Leadership

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation announces 2019-2020 Board of Directors and new officers. Since its inception in 1983, the Pasadena Tournament of Foundation has invested over $3 million in more than 200 Pasadena-area organizations.  Community programs receive grants in the categories of Performing and Visual Arts, Sports and Recreation, and Education (Early Childhood Education, Literacy and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Southern University Marching Band ‘Human Jukebox’ Selected to Join 2020 Rose Parade

The Southern University Marching Band better known as the “Human Jukebox,” is one of 20 marching bands selected to join the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 131st Rose Parade presented by Honda, themed “The Power of Hope.” The bands will travel to Pasadena from across the United States, from Puerto Rico to Hawaii, and around the world, including Costa Rica, Denmark, El Salvador, Japan, and Mexico. Free Public Tours of the Tournament House

Our doors are open, and you’re invited! Guided tours inside Tournament House, the iconic Southern California landmark, open to the public. Tours will be offered, at no cost, every Thursday at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. beginning today, February 7.Tournament of Roses® volunteers from the Heritage Committee, knowledgeable of the organization’s history and details of the house, conduct the tours.  

Gerald Freeny Makes History As The First African American President Of The Tournament of Roses

On January 19, The Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Board of Directors confirmed Gerald Freeny as the first African American president of the organization. Freeny will provide leadership for the 130th Rose Parade® presented by Honda and the Rose Bowl Game® presented by Northwestern Mutual on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. He has already gotten to work for the 2018-2019 Tournament of Roses year, deeming “The Melody of Life” as the Rose theme.

GERALD FREENY ELECTED FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT IN HISTORY OF TOURNAMENT OF ROSES

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Board of Directors has confirmed Gerald Freeny as President for the 2018-2019 Tournament of Roses year. Freeny is the first African-American to serve in the position as President. He will provide leadership for the 130th Rose Parade® presented by Honda and the Rose Bowl Game® presented by Northwestern Mutual on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
