Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaks At Black Historic Spaces Event

The Los Angeles City Planning Office of Historic Resources partnered with the Getty Conservation Institute to create the African American Historic Places, Los Angeles (AAHPLA) project. The project was created to designate landmarks throughout Los Angeles that hold historic significance in the Black community.

L.A. Council President Emeritus Herb Wesson To Hold Free Diaper Grab-and-Go Saturday

Los Angeles City Council President Emeritus Herb J. Wesson Jr. and Good Plus Foundation will host a diaper grab-and-go for 10th Council District residents on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at his district office in Koreatown. Diapers will be given to families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority will be given to families in the 10th Council District but no families are excluded from applying. Limited quantities and sizes available. All families must sign-up online at herbwesson.com/diapers. No walk-ups will be permitted.

Art Comes Alive at St. Elmo Village 50th Anniversary

Founded in 1969 by the late Rozzell Sykes, the community center has become a cultural landmark for its enduring promotion of arts education through workshops and cultural events. In recognition of reaching the half-century mark, scores of supporters from throughout the city attended the street festival.
