World AIDS Day – Time for Reflection and Action

According to a study by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH), Black and African Americans make up less than 13 percent of the general population but account for more than 49 percent of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases compared to Whites and Hispanics.  

Metro Los Angeles Debuts Multimedia Art Exhibit At BHCP

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) celebrated the grand opening of “Arts & Culture Along the K,” a multimedia exhibit showcasing the many great artists, culture and artworks connected by the K Line. The opening reception took place at the Museum of African American Art in Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza.

Report: Anti-Black Hate Crimes Surge 27% Higher

According to state data released in August, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) reported that hate crimes involving racism against Black people surged last year compared with 2021 data, including instances of violence motivated by bias.
