Letter Carriers Hold Rally in Compton

On Wednesday, October 4, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) held a rally in front of the Compton Post Office to bring community awareness to violent assaults on letter carriers. According to NALC and Compton letter carriers at the rally, they are becoming targets of robberies and physical assaults as they deliver the mail to residents and businesses in the area.

As for “Young Cyntoia” specifically, “I would tell her, you don’t know half the things that you think you know,” she said. “I thought I knew better than my mother and anyone else around me. Two Plead Not Guilty in Man’s Shooting Death in Leimert Park

Two men pleaded not guilty last week to capital murder in the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in Leimert Park. Tyree Davion Woods, 21, of Los Angeles, and Dondre Williams, 22, of Palmdale, are charged in the July 20 killing of Derron Jones. The murder charge includes a special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a robbery. Prosecutors have yet to decide whether to seek the death penalty against the two.
