Amongst many stage productions, and film and television adaptations of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” Iwuji said playwright Martin Crimp’s translation of the piece is different because it is “sexy, hilarious, and modern.”
Stewart said you will not get a watered-down version of “Jelly” to make him more palatable to audiences. “It’s human. It’s visceral. We all have the capacity, in my opinion, for any and everything, and in doing that it makes redemption that much ,” said Stewart.
Sheldon Epps, one of the first Black artistic directors in American regional theatre, has written a new book entitled, “MY OWN DIRECTIONS: A Black Man’s Journey in the American Theatre.” Epps chronicles his tribulations and triumphs as a freelance director, which led him to the Pasadena Playhouse, where he served as artistic director for twenty years. During that time, he helmed many productions, also directing episodes of classic television shows along the way.
For more than 20 years renowned director Sheldon Epps served as the artistic director for the Pasadena Playhouse. During his tenure Epps transformed the Pasadena Playhouse Theater into one of the region’s most prominent performing arts centers in the country.

The cast has been announced for the West Coast premiere of The Pasadena Playhouse/Crossroads Theatre Company production of Fly, by Trey Ellis and Ricardo Khan, and inspired by the American Heroism of the Tuskegee Airmen.
