Celebration of Life Set for Ernest W. Webb, Sr.

 Ernest Wade Webb Sr., a long-time deacon at Messiah Baptist Church, passed way on November 19 following a long season of illness. He was 79 years old. His celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 3, at 11a.m. at Messiah Baptist, 4500 West Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles. Pastor Perry J. Jones will officiate.   The long and impactful life of the Rev. Dr. Whalen S. Jones has come to an end. Dr. Jones, the founder and pastor emeritus of Messiah Baptist Church, passed away on July 13. He was 107-years-old. The homegoing service takes place on Saturday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at Messiah, 4500 West Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles.  The Rev. Perry J. Jones is the senior pastor. During his 79-year ministry, Dr. Jones led congregations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before coming to Los Angeles. Dr. Whalen Jones marks 106th birthday

More than a century of living has not slowed down the Rev. Dr. Whalen Samuel Jones, who celebrated his 106th birthday on June 7. The handsome centenarian still speaks with godly wisdom, attends church on a regular basis, and shares his time and talents as pastor emeritus of Messiah Baptist Church in Los Angeles, the congregation he founded in 1954.
