On a sunny Saturday, February 18, Assemblymember Isaac G. Bryan (D-55, Los Angeles), led California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis on a tour of small Black businesses in the historic Leimert Park neighborhood in South Los Angeles.
After a two-year hiatus, South LA Pride is set to make its return on July 1. Co-hosted by Los Angeles Councilmembers Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Herb Wesson, South LA Pride will host a free outdoor community picnic featuring a live DJ, games, drag performances, food vendors, and live performances from popular LA-based BIPOC queer entertainers. South L.A. residents lined up on October 29, at the field office of Councilmember Curren Price, Jr. to apply for the BIG:LEAP – the Basic Income Guaranteed: Los Angeles Economic Assistance Program. The citywide program, which accepts applications until November 7, will provide 3,000 recipients with $1,000 per month for 12 months with no-strings-attached or conditions on how the funds must be spent.
